Overview

La acción transcurre en el espacio temporal existente durante la travesía en barco entre Algeciras (España) y Tánger (Marruecos). La diferencia horaria entre estos dos países – dos horas - y la duración del viaje – igualmente dos horas - hace que el horario de salida y el de llegada coincidan, dando la impresión de que han desaparecido esas dos horas de la vida del viajero que haya efectuado dicho desplazamiento. El protagonista de los hechos que acaecen parte de un pueblo de Murcia hacia la ciudad marroquí de Casablanca donde le esperan unos amigos magrebíes que conoció en España, en un café-bar de carretera, propiedad de su padre, en el que trabajaba y donde conoció a unos estudiantes que, finalizado el curso en la ciudad gala de Montpellier, viajaban a su país de origen. A causa de una avería mecánica en la vieja furgoneta que los transportaba, se vieron obligados a detenerse en la población mencionada y una serie de circunstancias hizo que se crearan las condiciones de lo que iba a ser una larga y fructífera amistad. Juan, que así se llama el personaje que da vida al relato que nos ocupa, inicia el viaje aquejado de una profunda depresión motivada por la ruptura con su pareja y la destrucción de su entorno familiar, lo que le ha llevado prácticamente al borde de la desesperación. Como último recurso, se ha puesto en contacto telefónico con sus amigos y estos le han convencido de que vaya a visitarlos. Durante esas dos horas de viaje que aparentemente nunca existieron, Juan se “trinita”y son tres Juanes los que viajan por la península ibérica, por África y por Europa en tiempos, a veces paralelos, a veces divergentes, viviendo peripecias diversas siempre ubicadas en hechos de mayor o menor importancia histórica, pero siempre reales y perfectamente datados. Los horarios de los trenes, sus recorridos, las estaciones y su localización geográfica obedecen a criterios contrastados y perfectamente investigados. El desenlace tiene lugar cuando el barco en el que viaja llega al puerto de Tánger. Y allí comienza un viaje real que tiene todos los visos de tener una existencia cierta. O no.

Ce livre a pour objet l'analyse des systèmes symboliques qui, en Europe occidentale, définissent les catégories de folie à travers une constellation de manques identifiés à des ratés de la coutume : ratés de l'accès à la parole, ratés des relations entre les vivants, les saints et les morts, ratés de l'identité sexuelle. Tous ces désordres composent d'énigmatiques récits de " vies à l'envers ", produits par le groupe social pour penser une déviance d'abord perçue comme transgression des règles qui régissent l'exercice de la sexualité et le rapport au travail, mais qui conduit toujours hommes et femmes à vivre le lien matrimonial comme une menace mortelle.
Aussi bien, pour conjurer ces figures de l'altérité, l'impératif social du mariage, parfois considéré comme " remède ", se trouve-t-il le plus souvent inversé en interdit coutumier. Ce traitement paradoxal doit être resitué dans un vaste ensemble de rituels curatifs qui prolongent des rites liturgiques et des rôles cérémoniels toujours vivants. L'auteur restitue leur cohérence en conjuguant étroitement approche ethnographique et reconstruction de leur profondeur historique. Qu'il s'agisse des développements théoriques inédits ou de l'interprétation des pratiques curatives, Giordana Charuty sait nous captiver par une composition et une écriture romanesques qu'appelait cette mise en regard de vies parallèles.
